General Electric Co., for the betterment of their local executives, purchased Quasset Farm, the home of Carlton H. Palmer and Winthrop Palmer, the first female CT State Senator, on December 24, 1945 so that the Club could be expanded to include facilities for golf.
The clubhouse was opened June 15th, 1946, and the golf course designed by the premier architect of his time, Robert Trent Jones Sr., opened June 28, 1947. Attending the ribbon cutting ceremony and forming the first official foursome were Charles E. Wilson and Phillip D. Reed of General Electric, and renowned golfers Bobby Jones and Gene Sarazen.
Over the years The Patterson Club has grown to become one of the most respected and finest conditioned golf courses in New England. The club has played host to the CT State Open, CT State Amateur, New England AJGA Championship as well as numerous MGA and MetPGA tournaments.
With four sets of member tees and two sets of Junior / Family tees, the golf course is enjoyable for golfers of all ages and ability levels. Our golf programs include an active 18- and 9- Hole Women's Leagues, Men's Leagues, Mixed Golf events and extensive Junior Golf instruction programs and tournaments.

Dress Code
All members and their guests are requested to adhere to the Club’s Dress Code while on the golf course, the practice range, and the putting green.
General
- Proper golf shoes must be worn on the course at all times; footwear must have a low heel and either a rubber sole or soft spikes.
- Tennis attire is not permitted on the golf practice areas or the golf course.
- Denim jeans, cargo (sewn on exterior pocket), basketball shorts, sweat suits, non-golf exercise attire, and/or short shorts are not permissible golf attire.
Men’s
- For men, shirts should have collars (of either blade or traditional style) and be tucked in. All men’s shorts must be Bermuda length. Men’s bottoms must have belt loops and be tailored for golf. Belts must be worn when using the golf facility.
Women’s
- Women’s sleeveless tops must have a collar (of either blade or traditional style). Women’s short sleeve tops are not required to have a collar; however, they must be tailored to golf (no tee shirts). Women’s tops may not have a plunging neckline. Halter, tube or tank tops, and open midriffs are not permissible golf attire. All women’s bottoms must be of appropriate length. This includes shorts & skorts. Leggings can be worn as a layering piece. All women’s dresses must be of appropriate length. If the dress has sleeves, it is not required to have a collar. If the dress is sleeveless, it must have a collar (of either blade or traditional style).
